I’m David Varney—Professional firefighter and founder of Firehouse Fishing Company.
Firefighting has shaped who I am. It’s a job that demands everything—mentally, physically, emotionally. For many of us in the fire service, the weight we carry doesn’t get left at the station. It follows us home. Over the years, I found my peace on the water. Fishing became more than a hobby—it became my reset, my therapy, and my way to breathe again.
That’s why I started Firehouse Fishing Company.
This isn’t just a brand—it’s a mission.
We’re here to show the power of fishing, diving, and hunting as an outlet for first responders, and to test gear like we test each other in the firehouse: with honesty and real-world use.
We know the deal—there’s no room for gear that taps out under pressure. Whether you're dropping lines, spear fishing, or stalking game, it’s not about how it looks—it’s about how it holds up when everything's on the line. We don’t do excuses. We do gear that performs like your crew depends on it, because out here, it does. At Firehouse Fishing, every product we use is firefighter-tested and angler-approved. If we don’t believe in it, we won’t promote it. Period.
